Mark Hansen has over 30 years of experience in advising and coaching corporate and family business leaders in Asia. Mark has been a client, business partner, and student of Dr. Brian Bauerle, the founder of the Asian Leadership Institute, since the late 1990s.

Mark’s coaching work draws from his broad business experience with global multinational and regional clients, having worked in financial services, strategy consulting, entrepreneurial start-ups, corporate governance, and psychotherapy.

In corporate life, Mark was previously the Managing Director for Asia Governance & Strategic Initiatives at Standard Chartered Bank. There, he managed governance in 22 countries across Asia and served on subsidiary bank boards in Indonesia, Korea, and Vietnam. Prior to that, he was a partner at Booz Allen & Hamilton, where he was in charge of Asia Pacific Financial Services and Asian Emerging Markets management consulting practices.

An entrepreneur, Mark founded his own corporate advisory firms in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. He was an angel investor and Independent Non-Executive Director for ten years from early stage financing through eventual sale to a Moody’s subsidiary in Amba Research, a leading global investment research outsourcing firm based in India. He is a member of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Singapore Institute of Directors.

Mark holds a MA in Economics from the University of California Berkeley and a BA (Honors) in Economics with a minor in foreign languages from Cornell University. He also holds a MA in Counseling Psychology from the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. He wrote his M.A. thesis at Pacifica on counselling Asian business families.

He has been a meditator for over 30 years. He has co-taught a course on meditation and leadership at the Singapore Management University MBA program.
