The history of the Asian Leadership Institute Consultancy goes back more than 35 years. It began with Brian Bauerle, a psychotherapist from the US with a passion for understanding the human condition. Brian was drawn to Asia in the 70s where he spent time as a monk in both India and Thailand before arriving in Singapore and founding the Asian Leadership Institute in 1982.

Combining both eastern and western traditions, he set out to help business leaders become more conscious and aware so that they could have a positive impact on their organisations and lead happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.

The institute pioneered executive coaching and mindfulness based leadership development. Over the years the approach to coaching has evolved into a unique practice based model that transforms the lives of leaders both professionally and personally.

  Our signature retreat based executive coaching was born.

In the early 2000s we created two purpose built retreat centres to provide space for deeper leadership transformation.

In recent years it became increasingly apparent that our approach needed to go beyond senior leadership if organisations were to truly thrive. We set up the consultancy arm to help organisations transform leaders, teams and cultures.

In 2015 we created new online coaching models specifically designed to put collaboration, communication, and peer to peer coaching at the heart of an organisation’s culture.

  Today we have more than 40 executive coaches and facilitators trained in our approach that we can draw from around the world.
